Navigating Motherhood of Three: Embracing Imperfection and Self-Care

The past 12 months have been a whirlwind of unexpected twists, chaotic moments, and unparalleled joy as I embraced the journey of becoming a mother of three. As I gear up to re-enter my business in the next couple of weeks (open my books for some new PR clients, yay!), I've been reflecting on the invaluable lessons this journey has taught me, and I thought they might resonate with some of you.

1. Learn to Accept the Season You’re In

Life rarely unfolds as planned, especially with three little ones in tow. Juggling the demands of a business and a household with three kids brought its share of challenges. Initially, I believed I could maintain balance, but as the energy waned (and the four-month sleep regression hit), I realized something had to give. Acceptance became my ally, and I chose to focus on the beautiful chaos of motherhood, letting my business take a temporary backseat.

2. It's OK to Say No

Juggling three schedules can be overwhelming, and it's perfectly okay to say no or make last-minute changes to plans. Recognizing our limits allows us to prioritize what truly matters and keep our sanity intact. πŸ€ͺ

3. Embracing Imperfection

Our homes may not always be tidy, and parenting moments may not meet our expectations. But you know what? That's part of the fun! Whether it’s finding a snot trail up the back of your leggings or being found without a spare nappy at the park, laughing at the chaos, finding joy in the mess, and embracing imperfection takes the pressure off and adds a whole lot of joy to the journey.

4. Make Time for You and Your Partner

In the whirlwind of parenting, don't forget the connection with your partner. Whether it's a quiet vino post bed & bath chaos, a quick coffee date during grandparent visits, or, if you can swing it, a night away – connecting as a couple is essential for maintaining a strong bond and allows you to be even better parents.

5. Be Kind To Yourself

Being a mum, regardless of how many kids you have, is an incredible feat! Your body, identity, wants, and needs undergo significant changes throughout your journey. Take time for yourself, prioritize self-care, and remember to be kind to yourself. Celebrate the victories, big and small.

Here's to the beautifully imperfect adventure that is motherhood! πŸŒˆπŸ’– Did any of these resonate? Any key lessons you have learned on your motherhood journey?
